Last night the world cup tech guys rolled into Bansko, Bulgaria. Here’s what I woke up to, nice mountains around here.
. After a our slalom month of January, we slalom guys have had a nice few weeks break from racing. I headed home and powder skied in Whistler, that’s a must, hung out in Vancouver a bit and then got back at it. Home was fun but had to come right back over to our home base in Europe, Kirchberg, Where I got down to business testing some new Rossignol slalom skis. There were some busy days, lots of runs of slalom, I was trying different boots, angles, skis, as well as focusing on changes in my skiing. Found some great things and I’ll be racing on some new skis here in Bansko. The first run on these skis made me feel like a world cup skier again. Instantly I felt like a new skier, able to push the line and look for speed. Where before this season I only felt like I’ve been able to hold on and survive. The pair I tested, I actually broke on my 2nd day with them, oops, but I have 2 new pairs that met me here in Bansko so it’s on.
The hill here in Bansko is in good shape, the conditions are aggressive but a hard surface, so it should make for some great racing. I’m doing my 1st GS world cup of the year tomorrow and then the slalom on Sunday. Here’s some Pics from the mountain here.
